Bangabandhu satellite to forecast natural disaster: PM
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, country’s first satellite Bangabandhu Satellite-1 will bring a good opportunity for providing forecast about different natural disasters and to combat disasters. There is opportunity for expansion of information technology sector of our digital Bangladesh as well as more facility for watching television sitting at our homes.
She said these as the chief gust at the inaugural session of second international conference on ‘Impediment and Disaster Risk Management’ at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital on Tuesday.
The premier said, the most important thing is getting forecast of any kind of natural disaster. Through this satellite we will get the opportunity for preparing ourselves to face the disasters.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged strongly to the international community to include the issue of ‘impediment’ like Bangladesh in their development and disaster risk programs.
International Focal Point Advisory Group on DIDRM and World Health Organization’s Goodwill Ambassador for Autism in South East Asia Region Saima Wazed Hossain was present in the program. The Prime Minister urged Saima Wazed to uphold the issue of impediment inclusive disaster risk management in the national and international arena with due importance.
