After 8 years profit will come from satellite: Tarana
State Minister for Information Tarana Halim said, the construction cost of Bangabandhu satellite will come out within 7 to 8 years. After that the money will come as profit.
She said this at a view exchange meeting with the newsmen at Tangail circuit house on Saturday.
Tarana Halim said, business deal is going on with the countries that have the foot printing. It is visible profit. Another benefit is that we have emerged as the 57th
member state of satellite arena. It is a matter of national pride. Besides, Bangladeshi channels spend 140 million dollars each year. If we have our own satellite then we can save the money.
The State Minister said, information ministry is always working on welfare for the journalists. Several important steps have been taken to develop the livelihood of journalists. By this time initiatives have been taken to include electronic media journalists under ninth wage board. The registration process of online news portals will be completed within two to three months.
Tarana Halim said, information ministry has taken a special program to improve the quality of BTV. BTV’s quality improvement committee was formed. The quality of programs including BTV news will improve within one month. No program will be telecasted on BTV following recommendation.
She urged journalists to publish and air more reports on newspapers and television channels over government development programs.
The State Minister also assured of solving the problems raised by the journalists during view exchange meeting.
Presided over by Tangail Press Club president Jafar Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner Khan Md. Nurul Amin, police super Sanjit Kumar Roy and others were also present on the occasion.
