Committee soon to investigate death of Akram: Home Minister
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, nobody is above the law, to investigate the death of Akram an investigation team will be formed within a very short span of time. Action will be taken if proofs are found in connection with the crime in the investigation committee report.
He said these to the newsmen over the incident of killing ward councilor Akram in Teknaf at his residence on Saturday.
Home Minister said, if any member of law enforcing agency disobey law, if anybody willingly or tempted to do such type of work then action will be taken.
He said, a magistrate is responsible for the investigation. If magistrate gives any indication to us or there is any direction then action will be taken accordingly. If he can ensure that the incident is such a kind then trial will be happened according to the law.
Akram was killed in an anti narcotic drive at Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar on May 26. But later family members of Akram alleged in a press conference that he was killed by two local RAB and DGFI officers after they called Akram from his home.
In the press conference Akram’s wife delivered an audio clip of the conversation during the incident took place. The audio clip was published in some news media. Huge anger was also created in the social media after the record was published on the social media.
Akramul Haque was the former president of upazila Juba League. He was the son of late Abdus Sattar from Kayuk Khali village under municipal area and was the councilor of number 3 ward of Teknaf municipality.
