City elections important before parliament elections: CEC
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda said, elections in three city corporations (Rajshahi, Sylhet and Barishal) are very important for all before holding the next eleventh national parliament elections.
He said this while holding meeting with law enforcing agencies regarding three city corporation elections at the conference room of Nirbachan Bhaban at Agargaon in the capital on Thursday.
The CEC said, we will enter into the process of declaring election schedule of national parliament elections within two months. So before preparation of that election these three city corporation elections are very important for all including our election commission, for the persons who will conduct the election in the field level and for the officials who will help for holding the election.
Election Commissioners Mahbub Talukdar, Md. Rafiqul Islam, Brigadier General Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury (rtd) and Kabita Khanam were present in the meeting.
Besides, Inspector General of Police, Director General of RAB, three Divisional Commissioners, Returning Officers and other high officials of law enforcing agencies were present in the meeting.
According to the declared election schedule by the Election Commission voting will take place on July 30 in these three city corporation elections.
