Action against force members if anybody harassed: Home Minister
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, there is no chance to harass anybody under the narcotics control act. Action will also be taken against the law enforcement agency members if any harassment happens related to drugs.
He said these while replying to a question of newsmen after inaugurating the SPO seminar of Narcotics Control Department at Dhaka Club on Monday.
He said, we are detaining the drugs supplier, drugs users and the people who invest in this purpose. Harsh punishment is being provided for them. The punishment remains from earlier. We are not sparing anybody if he is a police officer, RAB personnel or others. It is said in the new Narcotics Control Act. Those who would harass people will be punished.
The minister said, we had come to a situation of dangerous drugs aggression. So the Prime Minister declared zero tolerance against drugs. We will be able to control the drugs situation within a short period with cooperation from all. We are dreaming, we can protect the youths. The narcotics control act was rearranged. How it will be applied that was described in the law.
Nearly 250 people were killed in gunfight during the anti narcotics drive conducted by law enforcing agencies but still drugs are coming. Replying to this type of question the minister said, our drives will continue. We have neither failed nor succeeded hundred percent. But we hope that we can control drugs in future.
The Home Minister said, those who produce and market drugs use arms elsewhere in the world. It has huge profit. These are black money and to save them they use the illegal arms. This is also happening in our country. The drugs traders are being engaged in fighting with the law enforcers. You are watching the consequences.
