GDP growth may hit 8.25 percent: Planning Minister
Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate may stand to 8.25 percent in the current fiscal year (2018-19).
He said this at a press conference held at National Economic Council (NEC) conference room at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital on Thursday.
The Planning Minister said, GDP will not stand still centering the election. The allocated money for the projects of Annual Development Program (ADP) for the next six months was sent to the concerned ministry account. It needs not to come to finance ministry or planning ministry for money. So there will be no problem to implement the projects. It will not influence the GDP.
He said, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate may stand at 8.25 percent in the current fiscal year. And it will stand at 9 percent in the next five years.
The update information of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) was published in the press conference. On behalf of BBS it was said, the overall inflation rate has decreased in the month of August considering the month of July. But the inflation in August increased in the commodities beyond food items. In July the overall inflation was 5.51 percent and in August it stood 5.48 percent.
High officials including the Planning Secretary were present in at that time.
