No quota, Higher Secondary admission on merit basis
There will be no quota system in the grade 11 admission in the education year 2018-19. All the vacant seats will be fulfilled on merit basis. The education ministry has finalized a policy regarding the matter.
The policy was finalized in a meeting of the ministry presided over by secondary and higher education division secretary Md. Sohrab Hossain on Monday.
The results of this year’s SSC will be published on May 6. The activities for admission in the higher secondary level will begin from May 13 and conclude on May 24.
According to the regulations, this year also a student can apply for admission in at least 5 colleges and highest 10 colleges. Application could be submitted through online or SMS. The students will be preferred for admission in their own colleges this year also.
According to education ministry, after admission on merit basis if there is any applicant of special priority quota then they will be admitted as excess of the total seats under fixed quota. If there is no candidate under quota then these seats will have no validity.
Last year 11 percent seats were reserved for the candidates for fixed quota keeping 89 percent seats open for all. If there was no candidate under quota then the seats were filled up from the candidates of general quota.
The fixed quotas were- 5 percent for the children of freedom fighters and their offspring, 3 percent for the students from outside of divisional and district sadar areas, 2 percent for the departments under education ministry and the teachers and officials of higher secondary level educational institutions and concerned managing board members, 0.5 percent for BKSP and 0.5 percent for the children of expatriates.
According to the rules, the application receive will begin through online and SMS from May 13. The last date of application submission is on May 24. But whose results will be changed after re-examine they can apply on June 5 and 6. In the first phase the results of selected students will be published on June 10. The admission activities will go on till 27 to 30 June including result publication in different stages, migration and other related affairs. Classes will resume form July 1.
