None from 109 institutions passes SSC, equivalent exams

Students from 109 schools and madrassas have failed to come out successful in this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations. In 2017 all the students from 93 institutions failed to pass out. This year 16 more institutions with zero percent pass rate were added in the number.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid handed over the copies of the results of this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Ganabhaban at 10 am on Sunday.

 The board-wise number of such institutions is 3 under Dhaka Board, 1 under Rajshahi Board, 1 under Jashore Board, 3 under Barishal Board, five under Dinajpur Board and 96 under the Madrasa Board.

Whereas the number of hundred percent pass rate schools is 1 thousand 574. 

This year candidates from 28 thousand 558 institutions took part in the secondary level examinations. Last year the number of institutions was 28 thousand 359.

This year the pass rate of SSC and equivalent examinations is 77.77 percent which was 80.35 percent last year. The pass rate has decreased by 2.58 percent. The pass rate is 79.40 percent under 8 educational boards which was 80.35 percent last year.

15 lakh 74 thousand 104 students have passed under 10 boards. 4 lakh 55 thousand 395 students did not pass out. The total number of candidates was 20 lakh 26 thousand 574.

Under 10 educational boards 1 lakh 10 thousand 629 students obtained GPA-5. Last year the number was 1 lakh 4 thousand 761. The number of GPA-5 gainer increased to 5 thousand 868.

Under the 8 educational boards 16 lakh 24 thousand 423 students took part in the examinations and 12 lakh 79 thousand 805 passed out. 1 lakh 2 thousand 845 students got GPA-5.

Under the madrassa education board 2 lakh 86 thousand 917 students took part in the examinations and 2 lakh 3 thousand 382 passed out. Pass rate 70.89 percent. 3 thousand 371 students got GPA-5.

Under vocational education board 1 lakh 15 thousand 234 students took part in the examinations and 82 thousand 917 passed out. Pass rate 71.96 percent. 4 thousand 413 students got GPA-5.

Following the allegation of question leak the SSC and equivalent examinations began on February 1. The theoretical part ended on February 25. The practical part began on February 26 and ended on March 4.
