Innocent people are not killed in anti-narcotic drives: Home Minister
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, no crossfire is happening in the country. Even no innocent people are killed during the anti-narcotic drives. Awami League government does not believe in killing. Those who are being killed are enemy of the nation and humanity.
He said these while speaking as the chief guest in a program of ambulance service expansion and iftar and doa mahfil organized at the Fire Service headquarters on Monday.
Home Minister said, we have to win the anti-narcotic drive. Those who surrendered during drive came in front of the law enforcers. Innocents are being released. The criminals are given punishment varied from 7 days to 6 months through mobile courts. There are more than three times inmates in the jail than the capacity. 30 percent of them are convicted or associated with drugs or under trial.
He said, special drives are being conducted against the people with specific allegation. In some cases where RAB and police force members were under firing then they responded to the drug traders for self defense and thus the incident of killings took place.
Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, a tiny tablet named yaba has turned the country into a dangerous stage. Nobody is able to live in comfort. To protect the young generation countrywide anti-narcotic drives are being conducted following direction from the Prime Minister. The real criminals are being brought to book and no innocent is harassed.
Upholding Fire Service Department’s activities he said, Fire Service comes first of all when an accident occurred. They take part in rescue operation. So this force has to stand besides people in future. This force will be made in more time befitting manner.
