Moon sighted, Eid ul Fitr on Saturday
Eid Mubarak. The moon of the Shawal month was sighted in the sky of Bangladesh on Friday evening. Holy Eid ul Fitr, the largest religious festival of Muslims, will be celebrated in the country on Saturday.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee on Friday evening after reviewing the information of the Shawal moon sighting. The meeting took place at the Islamic Foundation meeting room in Baitul Mukarram national mosque. It was presided over by National Moon Sighting Committee chairman and Religious Affairs Minister Principal Matiur Rahman.
The Minister in the meeting said, after getting information from all district administrations, Islamic Foundation head office, divisional and district offices, met office and SPARSO it was declared that the moon of Shawal month of 1439 hizri was sighted. So Eid ul Fitr will be celebrated in the country on Saturday.
The holy month of Ramada, the month of fasting ended with 29 days this year. The Eid day will begin with Eid congregation. All the preparations have been completed across the country, including the capital, for the smooth holding of Eid congregations.
In the capital, the main eid congregation will be held at the National Eidgah on the High Court premises at 8:30 am. However, the venue of the main congregation will be shifted to Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in case of any inclement weather. In that case, the jamaat will be held at 9 am. Besides, five more congregations will be held at the National Mosque.
Eid congregations will also be held in eidgahs, mosques and open spaces across the country.
