Viqarunnisa students call off movement
Students of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College have called off their movement following assurance to meet all their demands by phases. They also declared to take part in all examinations from tomorrow.
The students were staging demonstration for the last three days after the incident of suicide committed by a ninth grader Aritry Adhikary of the school.
On Thursday afternoon Viqarunnisa governing body president Golam Ashraf Talukder held discussion with the teachers and students. When he assured the students to meet all the demands by phases they called off their movement.
Spokesperson for the students Anushka Roy said, the governing body president and teachers have assured us to meet all the demands. We will go back to our classes. They also told us that the legal issues will be solved under the legal process.
Anushka also urged all students to participate in examinations and classes from Friday.
Earlier at 2 pm school governing body president Golam Ashraf Talukder expressed apologies to Aritry’s parents through media personnel. He also said that he is ready to resign for the sake of the school.
Following the incident of suicide committed by Aritry the students went on movement. As a result the education ministry formed investigation committee, three teachers including the acting principal were sacked and their MPOs were cancelled.
