It was planned killing attempt: DU VC about attack on his residence
Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman, Dhaka University Vice-chancellor, claimed that the attack made on his residence on Monday during angry protests against the existing quota system in public service was a planned one to kill him, reports UNB.
While briefing reporters at his office in the morning, he came up with the remarks.
The VC also claimed that the attackers are not DU students but outsiders. “The attack was not carried out by the quota protesters. Masked attackers were trained and they came to kill me,” he said, adding that their aim was to destabilize the situation.
A group of protesters demanding reforms in the quota system in public service broke the main entrance of the VC’s residence and ransacked several rooms and furniture early Monday.
Two vehicles parked inside the VC residence were set on fire by the angry protesters.
