Mominul-Mushfique guide the day for Bangladesh
Batting collapses were happened in both the innings of first test in Sylhet. In Dhaka the beginning was a bit like that for some times. After winning the toss the home side opted to bat first. But opener Imrul Kayes went to the pavilion when the total run was 13. He was out for 0 after facing 16 balls. After adding three runs on the score board another wicket down. This time Liton Das departed scoring 9 runs facing 36 balls. After two wicket fall Mohammad Mithun left the crease facing only four balls. When the home side was shaking after losing three wickets for 36 runs, Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim guided Bangladesh.
They made a mammoth partnership of 266 runs in the fourth wicket at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka.
Mominul got his seventh century while Mushfique made his carrier’s sixth century. They ruled the crease on the first day of the second test against Zimbabwe. The left hand-right hand batting combination did not allow Zimbabwean bowlers to dominate.
But Mominul got out when the day’s play was just four overs remaining. Known as the ‘Test specialist’ this batsman scored 161 runs with help of 19 boundaries before being caught bowled by Chatara.
Then Taijul came on the crease as a night watchman but back to the dressing room playing 10 balls scoring 4 runs.
At the end of the day Bangladesh’s score was 303 runs with loss of 5 wickets. Mushfique will resume batting with captain Mahmudullah. Mr. dependable was not out 111 after facing 231 balls.
Kile Jervis took three wickets for Zimbabwe while Tripiano and Chatara took one each.
