75 thousand taka mobile phone sets for ministers, secretaries

The government allocation for purchasing mobile phone sets for ministers, state ministers, deputy ministers and secretaries has been increased five times. The ministers and secretaries now will get mobile phone sets worth 75 thousand taka each.

Not only for buying the phone sets but also government will bear the cost of phone bills from the government exchequer. Earlier they were provided 15 thousand taka for this purpose.

Including these provisions the cabinet has finally approved the draft of ‘Government telephone, cellular, fax and internet policy-2018’ on Monday.

The meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

Later Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam briefed the media about decision of the meeting at a press conference at the secretariat.

The Cabinet Secretary said, Joint Secretaries, Additional Secretaries and other officers who are not under the constant mobile phone coverage will get 1,500 taka as allowance for mobile phone bill in every month. Earlier they were being paid 600 taka per month.

Shafiul Alam said, the policy was active since 2004 and now it has only been modernized.
