Innocents are not killed in gunfights: Quader
Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said, those who are being killed in ‘gunfights’ with law enforcing agencies during anti narcotics drive are not innocent. They are associated with drug trading. They are enemy of the country and nation.
He said these as the chief guest at a view exchange meeting on to ease traffic congestion on Dhaka-Chattogram highway held at Feni circuit house on Sunday.
Quader said, Myanmar is sending Rohingyas as well as smuggling drugs. Drugs are like enemy of the country. Arms are associated with drugs. Drug traders use arms when law enforcers conduct operation. Law enforcers cannot sit idle at that moment.
The Bridges Minister said, running of heavy vehicles and road excavation work to remain stop on highways during ten days prior to Eid and after five days.
He said, vehicles without fitness certificates and wrong side plying on highways will not be allowed.
Quader also said, construction work of Fatehpur overpass will conclude before Eid and three large bridge construction work will also be concluded on Dhaka-Chattogram highway by December.
