Govt arresting leaders-activists to harass BNP: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir alleged that the tricks to harass the party by arresting its leaders and activists have turned into extreme level. Jubadal General Secretary Sultan Salauddin Tuku was arrested as part of the conspiracy.

He said this in a statement on Tuesday.

He said, the ruling party is arresting opposition leaders and activists over false cases to establish their one party mechanism as eternal.

He condemned and protested the arrest of Jatiyatabadi Jubadal General Secretary.

Mirza Fakhrul said, this government without support of the voters after grabbing power by force is continuing repression on opposition party leaders and activists undermining the democratic rights of people. They have established reign of terror by its party terrorists with help of law enforcing agency members through attack and killings.

He said, the arrest business has turned into a regular feature. The arrest of Sultan Salauddin Tuku is another example of their ill politics.

The BNP Secretary General demanded withdrawal of false cases filed against Tuku and his unconditional release.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir arrived in Dhaka in a flight from London at 6 pm on Tuesday. He left Dhaka for treatment in Bangkok on June 3. From there he went to London on June 8.

Fakhrul met BNP Acting Chairperson Tarique Rahman in London. Besides, he took part in a program there.
