Khaleda Zia not willing to receive treatment at CMH: Home Minister
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, suggestion was given to BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia to receive treatment at Combined Military Hospital (CMH). But she declined to receive treatment there. She expressed her willingness to receive treatment at United Hospital as she showed earlier.
He said these to the newsmen at his office at the secretariat in the capital on Thursday.
Home Minister said, Khaleda Zia is a former prime minister and chief of a greater political party in the country. We are paying utmost importance to her treatment. For this reason we wanted to provide her treatment in BSMMU hospital. But she denied. Later the jail authority suggested her to take treatment at CMH. It is better than any other hospital in the country. But she also declined to receive treatment there.
He said, there is no scope to express unwillingness to receive treatment at any place according to the jail code. We have said that her treatment will go on in presence of her personal physicians. As she is not willing to receive treatment in any place under government management then the next steps will be taken after sitting with her personal physicians.
In response to a question the Home Minister said, Khaleda Zia can receive treatment in BSMMU hospital if she wants. Reputed physicians of the country are engaged here. Her personal physicians can stay with her during the treatment and investigation process. There is no hindrance in this regard.
Meanwhile, Khaleda Zia’s brother Shamim Eskander on Tuesday applied to the home ministry for her treatment through admitting her at the United Hospital with family expense.
