AL not agreed with DU VC’s speech
Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said, neither me nor Awami League is fully agreed with the speech of Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Dr. Akhtaruzzaman that he delivered saying all the activities of quota reformist activists are ‘expression of militancy’.
He said these while exchanging views with newsmen on contemporary political affairs of the country at Setu Bhaban at Banani in the capital on Monday.
Obaidul Quader said, the attack that happened in the residence of VC during the movement was originated in militant style. But I am not fully agreed with him what he said that the whole movement was an expression of militancy.
He said, I was sick for several days and could not follow the update news. But I would say, issuing gazette notification on quota reform is a complex process, it will take time. There is no lack of sincerity from the government on quota reformation. The committee is working on under direction of the Prime Minister.
Quader said, a committee was formed. The committee led by Cabinet Secretary is working on and also held a meeting by the time. They will collect some information and evidences. Experience will be collected from abroad. So I would ask the agitators- keep confidence on the commitment of the Prime Minister.
About BNP’s threat of movement he said, BNP has not the ability of organizing movement, they have no public support. They could not hold any movement in the last nine and half years. There was no peoples’ engagement in their movement. So they took the path of bombing and terrorism. They are now disconnected from people.
Obaidul Quader also said, after being failed to organize movement they are at present trying to capitalize demand of others. We knew that their exiled acting chairperson gave direction on the matter. They are trying to bring out issue from there. BNP does not like any type of activity of the government.
