EC finalizes election date
Election Commission (EC) has finalized the date of eleventh national parliament election.
A meeting was held with participation of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and four Commissioners in the office room of CEC from 11 am to 12:30 pm on Thursday. The CEC held the meeting regarding the election date before declaring the schedule.
But nothing is known specifically about the final date. The CEC will declare the election schedule in his address to the nation in the evening today (Thursday).
Meanwhile, after commencement of the meeting BTV and Bangladesh Betar recording team entered the office room of the CEC. After all out preparation the work for recording the address continued.
After the meeting Election Commissioner Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury said, all are going accordingly. Just wait, be patient to know the date of election.
EC officials said, schedule will be declared accordingly. Vote taking may be completed around December 20. Even EC will be prepared for vote taking at the beginning of January.
Election materials were sent in district level by this time centering the election schedule. There were different materials including nomination papers, document containing security terms for the candidates.
It is mentionable, there is constitutional obligation to hold the election before January 28. The countdown for election has begun on October 30. But EC is firm to conclude the vote taking by December. In this regard EC visited President Md. Abdul Hamid on November 1 and informed him about the overall preparation for the election.
