Schedule declared for holding one-sided election: Fakhrul

After declaring the election schedule BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said in a reaction that it was declared by the Election Commission to hold one sided election and people’s hopes and desires are not reflected through this.

He said these to the newsmen after holding an emergency meeting of 20-party alliance leaders at BNP’s Gulshan office on Thursday evening.

Mirza Fakhrul said, what we are going to say- will deliver at the public meeting in Rajshahi.  Discussions were held about Khaleda Zia’s release and overall programs for movement after declaring the election schedule.

Presided over by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir the meeting was participated by BNP standing committee member and 20-party coordinator Nazrul Islam Khan, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, LDP president Colonel Oli Ahmad (retd), Major General Ibrahim (retd) of Kalyan Party, Barrister Andaleev Rahman Partho of BJP, Dr. Redwan Ahmed of LDP, Maulana Abdul Halim of Jamaat, NPP chairman Dr. Fariduzzaman Farid, Mostafa Jamal Haider of JP, Jagpa’s acting president Barrister Tasmia Prodhan, Dr. Mostafizur Rahman Iran of Labor Party, Advocate Abdur Rakib of Islami Oikya Jote, acting chairman of NAP Shaon Sadequi and others.

At around 6:45 pm, before the meeting started LDP president Oli Ahmad reached at the party office on his car. He did not take part in any meeting at BNP Gulshan office after Khaleda Zia was taken to jail on February 8.

Earlier in his address to the nation CEC KM Nurul Huda announced the date of election while declaring the election schedule. His speech was broadcasted through Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar. Besides private television channels also aired the speech.

According to the schedule the last date for submitting nomination papers is November 19. Scrutinize on November 22. Last date of nomination papers withdrawal is November 29.

The countdown for eleventh national parliament election has started on October 31. According to the constitution there is an obligation to hold the election before January 28.
