Unregistered party can run election with registered party symbol: EC Secretary
Election Commission (EC) Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed said, campaign for eleventh national parliament election cannot be originated before allocation of election symbol on November 30. But candidates can begin their campaign for 21 days after allocation of election symbol.
He said these at a press conference at the Election Commission on Friday.
Helal Uddin Ahmed said, unregistered political party can participate in election with the symbol of registered party. It has no legal binding.
He said, the banners, posters that were used have to be removed within next seven days. If the order is violated than legal action will be taken.
The EC Secretary also said, candidates can submit their nomination papers through online from Sunday next.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioners were appointed as Returning Officers for their own districts. Besides, EC issued gazette providing responsibilities for metropolitan areas to the Divisional Commissioners of Dhaka and Chattogram.
