Bangladesh elected ICC Bureau Member
Bangladesh has been elected the Bureau Member of International Criminal Court (ICC) for the next two years (2019-20).
Bangladesh is elected Bureau Member unanimously on Wednesday at the 17th
weeklong session of the member states of the Rome statute in Hague of Netherlands.
For the year 2019 as the members of Asia-Pacific region Bangladesh, South Korea and Japan and for the year 2020 Bangladesh, South Korea and Palestine will represent the bureau, reports BSS.
Bangladesh is going to work as a bureau member for the first time after joining as an ICC member country in 2010. The Bureau comprising 21 countries seems to be the ICC top advisory council of the 123 member states.
The Bureau takes the important decision of ICC budget finalization, selection of judges, prosecutors and deputy prosecutors. The session will continue till December 12.
