Land officials asked to submit wealth statements

Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury has verbally ordered all the officials of land offices in the country including land ministry to submit their moveable and immoveable wealth statements within February 28.

He gave the order at a press conference at the Bangabandhu Hall of Chattogram Press Club on Saturday.

Informing about his decision for surprise visit within very short time to different land offices the Land Minister said, cases are filed after issuing land acquisition notice. Some officials of the land office are associated with this. So we are finding out a system that after issuing notice cases will not be valid. This type of straight forward rules will be formed.

Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said, all the land offices at union and upazila level will be brought under CCTV coverage. Besides, there will be voice recording facilities in different points. He informed about his firm determination over zero tolerance against corruption and said that there is no alternative of honesty.

The Land Minister hoped to take the land ministry into a good position within next 5 years.

The minister said, priorities are being given for land acquisition in the big projects like bay terminal, Karnaphuli tunnel, Chattogram-Coz’s Bazar rail line and economic zones. All the illegal establishments will be evicted along the both banks of Karnaphuli river and nobody will be spared in this regard.

He said that the Prime Minister has taken the responsibility for development of Chattogram. The first tunnel in the subcontinent is going to be constructed in Chattogram and there are also the big projects.
