Final tribute to Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul at Shaheed Minar Wednesday
The legendary musician and veteran freedom fighter Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul will be paid last respects at Central Shaheed Minar in the city on Wednesday.
Later, he was supposed to be buried at Martyred Intellectuals Graveyard in the capital’s Mirpur.
On Tuesday, his body will be kept at the BIRDEM mortuary, family sources said.
Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul died of a heart attack in the early hours of Tuesday at his Aftabnagar residence in the city. He was 63.

Samir Ahmed, son of Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul, has requested the Prime Minister to allow his father to be buried at a place reserved for the freedom fighters at Mirpur's intellectual graveyard.
He said, “Bulbul has been sick for a long time. There were eight blocks in his heart and the ring was set up in his heart in May last year. Recently, his physical condition was not very good.”
“The surgery of his heart was conducted at the National Heart Institute in the city last year. At that time, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took charge of his medical treatment,” Samir added.
Since the end of the 1970s, BUlbul was active in the music industry, including the film industry.
The musician began his career in film industry in 1978 through giving direction to the music in the film 'Megh Bijli Badal'. He has created song albums independently and has worked as music director in numerous films.
Bulbul has worked with almost all the popular musicians of Bangladesh including Sabina Yasmin, Runa Laila, Syed Abdul Hadi, Andrew Kishore, Samina Chowdhury, Khalid Hasan Milu, Agun, Kanak Chapa.
Throughout his career, Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul directed music for more than three hundred films. He was awarded Ekushey Padak, National Film Award, President Award, BACHASAS Award for his outstanding contribution to the music and film industry.
