Human chain demanding 10 crore taka compensation for Jahalam
Sammilita Samajik Andalan has demanded to provide 10 crore taka compensation for Jahalam as he served three years jail term without any fault.
Leaders of the organization demanded this compensation for Jahalam held in front of the National Museum at Shahbag in the capital on Saturday.
They said, continuous movement will be held if the compensation is not provided to Jahalam.
In his speech president of the organization and trustee of Liberation War Museum Ziauddin Tarek Ali said, the innocent jute mill worker Jahalam should be provided 10 crore taka compensation. It should be ensured that no more innocent person will be harassed after arresting.
Professor of Dhaka University Robayet Ferdous said, innocent jute mill worker Jahalam is a victim of unjust. We believe, there are many Jahalam in jails across the country. His compensation should be at least 10 crore taka.
Saleh Ahmed, leader of Sammilita Samajik Andalan said, Jahalam was produced before the ACC, the court and other stages and then he had to go to jail. He has to be given 10 crore taka compensation.
Mentionable, Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) filed 33 cases against Abu Saleq over allegation of 18 crore taka forgery in Sonali Bank. But Jahalam of Tangail had to serve about three years in jail instead of Abu Saleq due to the mistake by ACC.
