RCBC’s case only to fool Filipinos: Law Minister
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq said the defamation case filed recently by Philippine’s Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) against Bangladesh Bank was to fool the people of that country.
The minister said these while talking to newsmen after holding a meeting with Japanese envoy in Bangladesh Hiroyasu Izumi at his secretariat office in the capital on Thursday.
He said, the Philippine government and its senate accused RCBC of the Bangladesh Bank reserve heist because of its conduct. It did not really seem to be a legal behavior by the officials of that bank. So they lodged the defamation case against Bangladesh Bank to fool its people.
Anisul Huq said, a judge of Japan has become candidate in the election of International Court of Justice scheduled to be held in 2020. The Japanese envoy sought Bangladesh’s support in this regard. After holding discussion with the Prime Minister the matter of support to Japan will be finalized.
While responding to a question of newsmen the Law Minister said, the present government is not considering the matter of forming upazila court. What we have done is that one Magistrate has been fixed for one particular upazila. So that, the cases of that upazila go to him and activities begin fast. I think we have succeeded a lot with this. So there is no need to form court at upazila level.
