Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has declared FR Tower at Banani in the capital as risky. In this regard a cautionary notice is also fixed in front of the building.
Confirming the matter DNCC Public Relations Officer ASM Mamun told Rtv online that after declaring the building as out of usage at around 1:45 pm on Friday ban was also issued over movement of pedestrians around the building.
Earlier on Friday morning DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam again visited the fire hit area.
At that time he said, the buildings adjacent to FR Tower have to submit multistoried building fire and building safety documents within next 10 days.
Earlier DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia said in the morning that the permission to use FR Tower will not be given without assessment or clearance certificate of BUET.
On Thursday noon fire broke out on the 8
floor of 22 storied FR Tower at Banani. 20 units of fire service took part in the fire dousing activities. In addition army, navy and air force members joined the operation. Local people also participated in the salvage operation. 5 helicopters also joined the activities. After six hours of efforts the fire was brought under control. Then the fire service staffs and army members entered the building and brought the injured and dead bodies out of it.
At 11:10 pm on Thursday it was declared that the number of death is 25 and 73 more people were injured in the fire.
