Building will be sealed if there is no fire extinguisher

Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rezaul Karim is delivering speech before the media.
Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rezaul Karim said, action will be taken within 15 days after identifying the high rise buildings which are constructed through not abiding by the building code and where there is no fire extinguishing system. If necessary the buildings will be sealed.

After visiting the fire affected DNCC market he said these on Saturday.

The minister said, not a single accident is negligible. We will not say any human originated accident as merely an accident, it is complete murder. Rajdhani Unnayan Katripakkha (RAJUK) will begin its task to identify the ‘risky’ building from Sunday (March 31).

He said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is very strict against rules violators. So, the people who constructed buildings undermining the building code will not be spared. Even action will be taken against the people of RAJUK involved in the irregularities.

The Public Works Minister said, the electricity supply system in DNCC market was not endurable. It needs time to evict the illegal buildings. At present what we are permitting for the construction of establishment in Dhaka, in that case no chance of going beyond the RAJUK planning. A planned city is being built.

He said, after taking my charge I have taken strict stance against the rues violators. You can inform me directly about irregularities. I will take direct action. We have taken responsibility to perform work. We will perform our responsibility properly which was given by the Prime Minister.

Mentionable, fire broke out at DNCC market in Gulshan-1 at around 5:45 am on Saturday. The fire was brought under control after two and half an hour efforts of Fire Service. Earlier, on January 3, 2017 fire broke out in that market.
