RAJUK officials involved in FR Tower construction irregularities: Probe report

The housing and public works ministry probe committee has found clear evidence of involvement of the RAJUK officials in connection with irregularities for constructing FR Tower at Banani in the capital.   For approval of the design of FR Tower and for problems in construction work the government has published a report in this regard after charging at least 67 officials of housing and public works ministry, Rajdhani Unnayan Katripakkha (RAJUK) and concerned construction firm.

Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rezaul Karim published the report at a press conference at the secretariat on Wednesday.

Name of former RAJUK chairman Md. Humayun Khadem is also in the list of responsible persons.

He said, from floor 17th to 22nd of FR Tower were totally illegal. Besides, from 14th 17th floor were also constructed violating the design. Legal action will be taken against all the involved RAJUK officials in this connection.

The fire broke out from the 7th floor of FR Tower at Banani in the capital on March 28 afternoon. Fire Service department brought the fire under control after 6 hours of effort. Total 26 people were killed in this incident.
