Law Minister Anisul Huq said, perhaps there is no law regarding the word ‘ragging’. But trial of such type of offence can be possible under the existing law.

He said this to the newsmen after holding meeting with European Union delegation team at the secretariat on Wednesday on pretext of BUET student Abrar Fahad murder incident.

The Law Minister said, perhaps there is no law regarding the word ragging, if any crime is committed through ragging, if anybody is slapped then that would be a punishable crime under section 323 of the penal code.

He said, recently the matter of ragging has come in front. Those who are victims of ragging should be encouraged to complain. We have many laws for trial if complains are made. The trial will happen under the existing laws.

Anisul Huq said, there should be a preventive framework in the institutions. There preventive measures will be taken after making complains and if complains are made then there will be no ragging. We have to form a complain system.
