Illegal 11 thousand foreigners to be deported: Minister

‘Eleven thousand foreign citizens are living illegally in Bangladesh. The government has taken initiative to send them back’. Chairman of cabinet committee on law and order and liberation was affairs minister AKM Mozammel Haque said this.

He said this after holding cabinet committee meeting on law and order at the home ministry on Thursday.

The minister said, after arriving in the country many foreign citizens have not returned after expire of their visas. In our last meeting decision was taken to identify them. Our intelligence agencies have identified them successfully. But there is a problem that they have not enough money to return. In the meeting we have decided to request the government for allocating some money to send them back.

In response to the question of newsmen AKM Mozammel Haque said, there are about 11 thousand such foreigners in the country. Most of them have come from Africa specially from Nigeria and Tanzania.

At that time Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, after obtaining visas many foreigners are doing business in our country and many others are involved in crimes. Some are in jail and some have completed jail terms. Many others are living in the country illegally as their visas have expired.
