Six people were killed in five districts as cyclone ‘Bulbul’ approached into the south-western parts of Bangladesh. The incidents of death were occurred from midnight Saturday to Sunday noon.
In Dakop upazila under Khulna coastal region a woman named Pramila Mandal (52) was killed as a tree fell on her during the storm. The incident took place at around 10 am on Sunday. Besides at Senhati village in Dighalia upazila under Khulna district a young man named Alamgir Hossain (35) was killed as a tree crashed on him.
An old man named Hamed Fakir (65) was killed at Uttar Rampur village in Patuakhali as tree collapsed on the house. Deputy Commissioner of Patuakhali Matiul Islam Chowdhury informed that there was no news of severe damage except loss of one life.
In Barguna a woman named Halima Khatun died at the shelter center in DN College on Saturday night. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Anisur Rahman said that Halima died of illness there.
A teenager girl named Samia Khatun (15) was killed at Bharasapur village under Rampal upazila in Bagerhat district as a tree collapsed on the house where she was staying.
A housewife named Saleha Begum (50) was killed at Ghatakchar area in Madaripur district as roof of house collapsed on her on Sunday noon. Officer in Charge of Madaripur sadar Abdul Ohab confirmed the information.
