The Myanmar authority has released 17 Bangladeshi fishermen who were detained by Myanmar navy in the Bay of Bengal. They were handed over to Bangladesh Coast Guard in the night with help of Bangladesh embassy in Myanmar.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lt. Commander M Hamidul Islam confirmed the information.
He said, a fishing boat carrying 17 Bangladeshi fishermen went for fishing in St. Martin area on Thursday night but they were stuck as engine of the boat turned out of order. The boat entered into Myanmar border due to wave.
Later the Myanmar navy detained the fishermen along with the boat. After getting the news Bangladesh authority communicated with Myanmar navy. Later on Friday night 17 fishermen were handed over with help of Bangladesh embassy.
