Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Major General Mohammad Safinul Islam said, the number of people who entered illegally in Bangladesh during the last one year is 1001. Of them, 445 Bangladeshi citizens have come in the month of November and December after amending the citizenship act in that country.

He said this at a press briefing held at BGB headquarters on Thursday.

The BGB Chief said, those who returned all are Bangladeshi citizens. They entered India in different times. Indian National Register of Citizens (NRC) or Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) have no relation with the people returned to Bangladesh.

He said, 253 cases were filed against the people entered illegally.

Major General Safinul Islam said, there is no concern between the border security forces of the two countries regarding CAA or NRC.

He said, we have no concern regarding NRC or CAA. Because, we will never allow to intrude anyone. It is our regular task to prevent illegal intruding. So, nothing has happened to be concerned. It is Indian internal matter.
