Awami League advisory council member and former minister Alhaj Advocate Md. Rahmat Ali is no more (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun).
He breathed his last at around 7:30 am on Sunday while undergoing treatment at Square Hospital in the capital. He was 75.
SM Jahangir, Personal Assistant of Advocate Rahmat Ali confirmed the information. He said that Rahmat Ali was suffering from Diabetes, Kidney disease and other old age complications for long period.
Advocate Rahmat Ali was elected Member of Parliament for five terms from 1991 from Gazipur-3 (Shreepur) constituency. He was the introducer of ‘One house, one farm’ project. His daughter Rumana Ali Tushi is also the Member of Parliament from the 14 number reserved woman seat in the eleventh national parliament.
