Coronavirus: General holidays from March 26 to April 4

Officers and employees of government and private organizations are getting 10 days general holidays starting from March 26 to April 4 including the weekly holidays and public holiday. This will not be applicable for emergency service providing organizations. Besides, urges were made to the people to stay at home without emergency purpose.

The decisions were delivered by Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam at a press briefing at the secretariat on Monday.

Khandker Anwarul Islam said, the decisions were taken after discussing the matters with the Prime Minister and concerned ministries to keep the countrymen safe and to avert coronavirus infection.

He said, though government and private organization will be closed but kitchen markets, medicine shops, hospitals and emergency services will be in operation. The government has taken the decision to prevent coronavirus outbreak. People are requested not to come out of their homes without emergency need.

At that time he urged people to perform their office duties through online.

The Cabinet Secretary said that public transport and banking activities will be limited during this period.

He said, government will help the low income people. If anybody from them is infected measures will be taken under ‘Home Return Project’.
