126 patients died in last 8 days at the corona unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Of them 13 patients died yesterday (Tuesday). Of the 126 patients 22 were tested corona positive. The information was obtained from DMCH morgue and hospital sources.
According to the DMCH sources, after 12 am Monday to 12 am Tuesday total 13 patients died. Of them two were tested corona positive. And the rest 11 patients died with symptoms of coronavirus infection.
The sources said, in the last two days (including Sunday and Monday) total 39 patients died at the corona unit of DMCH. In the last eight days total 126 patients died. Of them coronavirus was detected in the samples of 22 patients. The rest of the patients died with symptoms of covid-19.
On May 2 Corona Unit began its operation at the Burn Unit of DMCH. Then it was extended to the new building (hospital-2) on May 16. Patients with symptoms of coronavirus transmission are getting admitted here from different parts of the country including the capital.
Dr. Alauddin Al Azad, Deputy Director of DMCH said, the first unit for the corona patients was initiated at the burn unit of DMCH. Measures have been taken to provide treatment for the corona infected and the patients with corona symptoms separately here. There are 250 beds at the burn unit. Then the unit-2 was inaugurated at the new building of the hospital on May 16. 500 beds are prepared here for providing treatment. In total there are facilities for providing treatment for 750 patients in the hospital.
