No risk in Pahela Baishakh festival: Home Minister
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said, all types of preparations have been taken from the law enforcing agencies to make the Bangla new year reception festival safe and comfortable. There is no risk in this regard. We are alert to ensure security.
He said these to the newsmen after inspecting the security measures at Ramna Batamul area in the capital on Friday.
The minister said, all units of police including dog squad, bomb disposal unit and SWAT are working on to ensure security on Pahela Baishakh. The whole areas have been brought under CCTV camera coverage. All preparations are taken to avert any untoward incident.
Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, not only Dhaka, security has been ensured throughout the country centering the New Year reception programs. All measures were taken so that people can celebrate the festival without any difficulty.
April is also the holy night of Shab-e-Meraj. So he urged all to conclude all open space program by 5 pm and said, necessary measures were taken so that there is no hindrance to observe Shab-e-Meraj.
He said, everybody can celebrate or observe the Pahela Baishakh and Shab-e-Meraj at home after concluding their outside Baishakh celebration by 5 pm.
The Home Minister said, Mongal Shobhajatra is internationally recognized. So many foreigners can take part in this. All steps were taken to ensure security for the Shobhajatra.
