Mudslide kills 4 while digging hill in Bandarban

Four workers including a woman were killed in mudslide while digging hill at Naikkhongchhari in Bandarban.

The accident took place at Monjoy Para of Ghumdhum union at around 12 pm on Monday. One was also rescued alive from the spot.

Local administration and people’s representative said, four people were killed including a woman when the accident took place at Boroitoli village of Myanmar bordering area Monjoy Para under Ghumdhum union of Naikkhongchhari. After being informed locals rushed to the spot and recovered one alive from the debris.

Locals including administration and law enforcing agency members were taking part in the rescue operation.

The deceased are Jasim Uddin, Nurul Hakim, Nur Mohammad and woman worker Sona Meher. They all were the residents of Ghumdhum union.

Chairman of Ghumdhum union Jahangir Aziz said, four workers including one woman appointed by Supayan Barua were killed in mud slide while digging hill at Boroitoli village under ward number 9 in Ghumdhum union. Locals were taking part in rescue operation.

Confirming the incident Naikkhongchhari UNO Sarwar Kamal told Rtv online, we are informed about the incident of chunk of mud falling on five workers. Local inhabitants and local administration are performing the rescue operation. One was rescued alive from the spot.
