Protests continue demanding release of Hasna Hena

Students of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College are staging protests for the third consecutive day on Sunday demanding the release of their teacher Hasna Hena, who was arrested for allegedly prompting to the suicide of ninth grader Auritry Audhikary.

The students started the protest rally at 8am in from of the school’s Gate No. 1 on Bailey Road in the city.

Taking to Rtv Online, they said, “A teacher is like a mother of father. He or she can scold us and adore us. Today our ‘mother’ is in jail; we cannot stay outside keeping our mom in prison.”

One of the guardians of the protesting students, said, "The persons responsible for the incident must be brought under trial but we do not want punishment for the innocent people.”

A team of DB of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Hasna Hena, a class teacher of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College, who is accused along with two others of provoking ninth grader Aritry Adhikary to commit suicide.

Later, she was produced before a Dhaka court that sent her to jail.

Adhriti’s father Dilip Adhikari filed a case with Paltan Police Station against three teachers - Viqarunnisa Noon School and College Principal Naznin Ferdous, morning shift in-charge Jinat Akhtar and class teacher Hasna Hena.

Following the direction of Education Ministry, the governing body of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College suspended its three teachers, including acting principal Nazneen Ferdous, over the incident.
