Bus driver, helper confess killing of SAU student Wasim
Udar Paribahan’s bus driver Jewel Ahmed (31) and helper Masuk Mia (32) have delivered confessional statement while primary interrogation about killing Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU) student Wasim Abbas Ghuri (21) by pushing him out of the bus.
Moulvibazar model police station detained driver Jewel Ahmed at around 11:30 pm on Saturday and at around 2 am on Sunday they detained helper Masuk.
Additional Police Super of Moulvibazar district Anwarul Haque said, they were detained during a drive in cooperation with local police station. In the primary interrogation they confessed about the incident.
Quoting the driver and helper he said that on Saturday afternoon some students of SAU got on the bus from Nabiganj toll plaza area on their way to Sylhet. At that time helper Masuk claimed 100 taka bus fare from the students but identifying them as students they told Masuk to keep lesser fare. At that time Masuk exchanged angry words with the students. At one stage the students got off the bus at Sherpur Muktijoddha square on Dhaka-Sylhet highway. When they were leaving the helper from behind scolded. Then Wasim came and asked the helper about why he scolded them standing on the stair of the bus. At that time the driver began to drive fast and Masuk pushed Wasim out of the bus and Wasim fell under the wheels of the bus. Being critically injured Wasim was taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital but the physicians declared him dead.
ASP Anwar also said that if family members do not file any case then police will lodge a case being plaintiff.
