Incidents of clashes took place between police and the inhabitants of Mohammadpur Geneva Camp in the capital over demand of electricity. The clash began on Saturday afternoon. The clashes were going on till the last report came. Police claimed that 15 of their force members were injured. Inhabitants of the camp said that at least fifty people were injured.
The stranded Pakistanis alleged that they had to live without electricity 8-10 hours a day. From that anger they began to demonstrate from Friday. Again they started agitation in the noon on Saturday. At that time they seized the road from the camp to Mostakim Kabab Restaurant. When police tried to take control over the road the clash began phase by phase.
The clash turned into serious stage after 1:30 pm. Police tried to take control over the situation by hurling tear shells and blank fires. At one stage the clash spread on the road behind Residential Model College. The agitating people tried to set a police pick up van ablaze.
At around 3:30 pm the demonstrators took their positions in front of Mohammadpur Government High School on Shahjahan Road. Police and riot police took their positions around five hundred yards far from the scene. There were water cannon and armored vehicles. RAB force was also present there.
In this regard Deputy Commissioner of Tejgaon division police Anisur Rahman said that 15 of their force members were injured. Efforts were made to set a police pick up van ablaze. They were trying to take the situation under control.
Several demonstrators said that at least 50 inhabitants of the camp were injured.
