Govt will consider if CHT terrorists want to surrender: Home Minister

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, the government will consider the matter if terrorists of Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) give proposal to surrender after admitting their mistakes to return to their normal life.
He said this at an anti terrorism, drugs and militants gathering organized by Khagrachhari district police at Ramgarh government high school ground on Wednesday.
The Home Minister said, the pirates of the Sundarbans surrendered after seeking mercy. Those who did not had to face dire consequences. We welcome all the initiatives to bring back peace in the hills.
He said, why there is so unrest in the hills? The government gives special importance for CHT. Then why there will be so bloodshed, unrest? It will be investigated.
Refugee rehabilitation affairs taskforce Chairman Kujendra Lal Tripura, reserved woman parliament member Basanti Chakma, Khagrachhari hill district council Chairman Kongjori Chowdhury, Chattogram range DIG of police Khondoker Golam Faruk, Deputy Commissioner Protap Chandra Bishwas, police Super Md. Ahmar Uz Zaman and others were present in the gathering.
