8 Die in 3 Hours in Gaibandha

8 people died in separate road accidents at Palashbari in Gaibandha. At least 10 people were injured at the time.

Police and witnesses said a truck being overturned, five people were killed on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway at the place named Jundah of Palashbari Upazila in Gaibandha at around 12:30 pm on Saturday.

Officer-in-Charge of Palashbari Police Station said that to avoid collision with motorcycle, losing control a rod-loaded truck on the way to Rangpur overturned by the side of the road at the place named Jundah of Palashbari Upazila in Gaibandha. Five of the passengers on the truck were killed in the accident. Rests of them are being rescued.

Earlier, at least three people were killed in a clash between passenger bus and local vehicle named Votvoti near Palashbari upazila in Gaibandha around 10am. At that time, 10 more people were injured.

Police said a Gaibandha-bound Nasiman (Votvoti) collided on the head with Bogra-bound passenger bus. Three passengers of Nasiman died in this accident. The injured were initially admitted to local Upazila Health Complex. Three of them were seriously injured and they were referred to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.

The deceased are identified as Raju, Zakir and Khasru of village Rudranagar of Govindganj Upazila. They all worked as masons.
