1.9kgs of heroin with an estimated street value of about tk 10 million from a mobile accessories shop in Rajshahi’s Godagari Upazila, have been seized by Police detectives.

OC of District Detective Branch of Police Ataur Rahman said they raided the shop in the upazila’s rail gate area on Tuesday night and seized the contraband stashed in 15 ‘Indian spice’ packets.

He said the packets were stuffed with heroin, not spice.

During the raid, Ripon, 20, was arrested from the shop as he was sitting there.

He is the son of Jalal Uddin and a resident of Matikata village in the same upazila.

But police failed to arrest the owner of the shop as he fled sensing the presence of law enforcers.

In this connection a case has been filed with Godagari Police Station under Narcotics Control Act.
