Aritry’s class teacher lands in jail
The court has sent Hasna Hena, the class teacher of class nine of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College, to jail in connection with the case of prompting suicide committed by Aritry Adhikary.
On Thursday Dhaka metropolitan magistrate court judge Abu Sayeed ordered her to send in jail. Earlier at around 3:20 pm Detective Branch police produced her before the court.
Though lawyer of the teacher appealed for bail but police did not appeal for remand. After the hearing the court ordered her to send in jail.
The teacher was arrested from Uttara in the capital at 11 pm on Wednesday and was taken to DB office.
Aritry, a ninth grader hanged herself from the ceiling fan at her home at Shantinagar in the capital on Monday. Then she was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital but the on duty physician declared her dead there. Following the death the students of Viqarunnisa Noon School began to agitate in front of the school gate.
After the incident, on Tuesday night a case of prompting suicide was filed by Aritry’s father with Paltan police station against Viqarunnisa School and College acting principal Naznin Ferdous, morning shift chief Zinat Akter and class teacher Hasna Hena.
As the education ministry probe committee identified the trio for instigating the suicide the three teachers were sacked and their MPOs were cancelled. Besides, the education ministry also issued letter to police and RAB for taking legal steps against them.
