Ex-footballer Kaiser Hamid arrested
Former national football team captain Kaiser Hamid has been arrested by CID Police (Dhaka Metro North) on charge of cheating people in the name of providing profits by running multipurpose company business.
The renowned footballer was arrested from Elephant Road in the city on Sunday following an arrest warrant in a case filed with Banani Police Station in 2014.
CID Special Superintendent of Police (Dhaka Metro North) Mirza Abdulla-hel-Baki confirmed the matter to RTV Online.
"He will be sent to the lower court today (Monday)," the police official said, adding, ”We will seek a five-day remand for him.”
Baki also said that Kaiser Hamid ran an organization named 'New Way Multipurpose Cooperative' and he took money from different people through this organization.
At one stage, the organization was closed eight years ago and he could not refund the money. Later, many of the money launderers in the organization filed suits against him with different police stations.
Hamid, one of the best defenders in football history of Bangladesh, was known as 'Mohammedan Kaiser Hamid'.
Kaiser’s mother Rani Hamid is one of the best chess players in Bangladesh and his father Abdul Hamid, a former army officer, was also known to all as the sports organizer.
