Driver confesses rape, murder of nurse Shahinur

Bus driver Nuruzzaman Nur has confessed the incident of killing nurse Shahinur Begum by dropping her from the running bus after raping. Nuruzzaman, his assistant Lalon, Al Amin and others took part in the gang-rape and killing.

Nuruzzaman Nur gave confessional statement in connection with the rape and murder case under section 164 before the court on Saturday night.

Kishoreganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Al Mamun recorded the statement. On the fourth day of eight days remand Nuruzzaman delivered the confessional statement.

Kishoreganj Police Super Mashrukur Rahman Khaled at a press conference upheld the information. Dhaka range DIG Abdullah Al Mamun and Additional DIG Md. Asaduzzaman were present at that time.

In the press conference it was said, the three people raped Shahinur at a banana garden at Bilpar Gazaria area of Bajitpur on Bhairab-Kishoreganj highway on that day.

DIG Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun said that Nuruzzaman, Lalon, Al Amin and others took part in the raping and killing. Another accused Al Amin is absconding at the moment. On that day he brought Shahinur to the Katiadi health complex and fled away.

In the statement it was mentioned that the accused made prompt strategy to avert the responsibility. As part of the strategy after raping and killing Shahinur was again brought on the bus and thrown away. Then again they recovered the body and took it to different places for treatment. Later they brought the dead body to the Katiadi upazila health complex.

The DIG also said, five people were arrested after the killing. The court granted eight days remand for them. They are being interrogated at Bajitpur police station.

On Monday at around 11 pm police recovered the dead body of Shahinur from Katiadi upazila health complex. Later police arrested driver Nuruzzaman Nur, his assistant Lalon Mia, Al Amin of Vengardi village under Gazipur, Rafiqul Islam of Lohadi village and Khokon Mia of Bhogpara village under Katiadi. They are at present under eight day remand following the court order.
