Suraiya Akter Risha
The metropolitan session judge court has awarded verdict of death sentence for the lone accused Obaidul in connection with Suraiya Akter Risha (15) murder case. Risha was a student of class eight of Willes Little Flower School at Kakrail in the capital.

Dhaka metropolitan session judge KM Imrul Kayesh delivered the verdict. The accused was produced before the court for hearing the verdict and later sent to the jail again.

Earlier, on September 11 the court fixed the date October 6 for delivering verdict in presence of the accused. But the jail authority did not produce him before the court. So the court deferred the date on October 10.

Obaidul Haq stabbed Risha at around 11:45 am on August 24, 2016. She was then admitted at Dhaka Medical College Hospital under critical condition. Risha lost her battle for life on August 28. In this connection Risha’s mother Tania Hossain filed a case with Ramna police station.

The lone accused Obaidul gave confessional statement before the court saying that after being rejected of a proposal of affair he stabbed Risha.

Obaidul was an employee of Boishakhi tailoring shop at Eastern Mallika Shopping Mall. Risha went to the shop at the beginning of 2016 to make a dress for her. From that period Obaidul began to stalk her. As Risha switched off the phone number then Obaidul stalked her on her way to school. As Risha denied the proposal of affair then Obaidul stabbed her.
