A Dhaka court has granted 10-day remand for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) 39 number Ward Councilor Moynul Haque Monju. The remand was granted in connection with two cases filed against him under arms and narcotics control act.
Monju was produced before the court on Friday. The investigation officer sought remand for seven days each for the cases for fair investigation. After the hearing the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mandal granted remand for five days under arms act and more five days under narcotics control act.
In continuation of the anti casino drive Councilor Monju was arrested by RAB-3 from his Tikatuli office on Thursday noon. Then two cases were filed with Wari police station.
RAB-3 Commanding Officer Lt. Colonel Shafiullah Bulbul said, during the drive at his office two fire arms, drugs and banned medicines were recovered. In this connection two cases were filed under arms and narcotics control act.
Councilor Monju is a FIR enlisted accused for extortion filed on Wednesday with Wari police station. Besides there are more two cases against him. All the cases were filed in connection with extortion, land grabbing and terror activities.
